The 40-year-old ex-rugby star who is married to the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips, has reportedly been given guidance for talking about the famous family.
A source reported by The Mirror said: “Mike is adored by all members of the Royal Family for his down-to-earth nature and good humour.
“He doesn’t take himself too seriously and there’s not a snobby bone in his body. But recently it’s been felt he may inadvertently reveal something that should remain private.
“Although he is not royal and his mother-in-law Princess Anne refused her children titles so they would lead ‘normal’ lives, there’s no getting away from Zara’s bloodline. Like it or not, there’s a line they must toe.”
The couple married in 2011 and have two daughters. Ex-England player Mike recently raised eyebrows when he was quoted talking about Harry and Meghan’s baby Archie at a charity do.
“There’s a feeling of not wishing to dampen his spirits as he’s the life and soul of the party,” the source added.
Speaking about his festive traditions last year, dad-of-two Tindall revealed how the family have a surprisingly alternative Christmas day.
He described how most of the festivities are played out on Christmas Eve – including the opening of presents and a black tie party in the night.
Speaking on the House of Rugby podcast, alongside fellow rugby star James Haskell, Tindall said: “Christmas day is a little bit more quiet because it is a cold buffet – they give everyone the day off.
“She (The Queen) loves all the staff she has working for her so she gives as many the day off as she can.
